The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of K L University in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh organized a seminar on ‘Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutions (QAHEI)’ on January 27-28, 2017. This seminar was organized with support of National Asssessment and Accreditation Council. The objective of the seminar was to identify identify the major initiatives/activities to be prioritized and to formulate benchmarks, metrics and key performance indicators to achieve five NAAC core values. The seminar themes included: Quality Assurance, Sustenance and Improvement in: ü Curriculum Design and Teaching-Learning practices ü Outcome Based Education and Evaluation ü Quality of Research ü All-round development of students ü Strategic Planning in making world class Higher Education Institutions ü Ranking and Certification methodologies, and Leadership and Good governance.
Dr Rajesh Tandon, UNESCO Co-Chair was invited to the seminar as a Key note speaker on the topic, ‘Community Based Research & Social Responsibility in Higher Education’. Dr Tandon outlined the importance of ensuring quality of HEIs as a benchmark, from the lens of social responsibility. Emphasizing the role of higher education as a ‘public good’, he spoke about the need for universities to adhere to qualities of the highest standards. As part of the seminar, Dr Tandon also chaired a session on ‘Strategic Planning in Making Global Universities’.
The seminar witnessed lectures from eminent speakers such as Prof. M Ananda Krishnan, Chairman , IIT Kanpur, Dr D P Agarwal, Former Chairman, UPSM and Director, IIITM-Gwalior, Dr R Natarajan, Former Chairman, AICTE & Former Director, IIT-Chennai, Dr Pemmasani Narasimha Rao, Vice-President, Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE), etc.
