The NCCPE annual conference, held in Bristol each year, provides an opportunity for all those interested in HEI public engagement to come together, to be inspired, challenged and refreshed. This year, it is lsated to be held on the 3rd and the 4th of December’2014, at the Bristol Royal Marriott Royal, Bristol. The theme for the conference is Captivating places; Captivating ideas; Captivating people: Unlocking the potential of curiosity-driven engagement.
Of the many purposes engagement serves, inspiring and informing are some of the most popular. Universities have a long history of engaging with the public imagination and stimulating their curiosity, and have developed significant partnerships with others to enhance public discourse and debate. From dissemination of research, to inspiring the next generation of researchers and research friendly publics, Engage 2014 will bring alive the transformative power of engagement – sometimes led by universities, and sometimes by other agencies who are pushing back the boundaries of curiosity-driven practice.
