Dr. Rajesh Tandon gave the keynote address at the EUA-CDE Annual Meeting on the topic “Knowledge for Public Good, International Collaboration Post-Pandemic.” He spoke on the principles of scientific research, and stated that researcher responsibility and accountability of science has become far more centre stage across the world. Doctoral students need to be more sensitive & aware of this issue. He stated that scientific researchers must remember their right to freedom of expression and ethical practices as stated in RSSR, not just universal ethics but contextually relevant ethics too. He also discussed the relevance of participatory research today in addressing societal challenges. He added that participatory research starts with learning to listen to community members, who have actionable research questions that must be built upon. He also spoke of ethical concerns in research and the need to produce locally relevant solutions in partnership with local communities.
