Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at DUT is supporting community business development in many locations in KZN province for the past 2 years. The project in Willofontein community of Pietermaritzburg area has begun to create a set of cooperatives around different stages of leather value chain– collecting & curing hides & skins, tanning, making footwear and bags etc. Each co-op has both men & women. They are learning technical & business skills, and passionate about their dreams. DUT needs to figure out how its students & faculty can benefit from this project now?
