With the most profound grief we share the tragic news that Dr. Martha Farrell, wife of Dr. Rajesh Tandon, and towering leader against discrimination and violence against women was killed in an armed attack while working in Kabul, Afghanistan providing training on Gender Issues for the staff of the Aga Khan Foundation.
Martha was the Director of the PRIA International Academy of Learning, author of a recent book on gender discrimination in India, partner in our UNESCO Chair Next Generation project, Mother, Friend and colleague. She continually looked after the needs of others
There is madness in our world.
Blessings upon her
Blessings upon her family
Blessings upon her co-workers and friends
With deep sadness,
Budd Hall and all of the UNESCO Chair team
