Greetings from UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education!
We are delighted to invite you to the upcoming South-East Asia webinar Decolonized, Community-led Co-construction of Knowledge towards Climate Resilience, scheduled for 22nd May (Thursday) 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. (Malaysia time).
This webinar is part of the DECODE project, which seeks evidence of policy or practice impact in the context of epistemological diversity and decolonized co-construction of locally contextualized and actionable knowledge. With analysis of six case studies internationally, the implications for undertaking such research and making impacts on climate resilience will be shared.
Community leaders and researchers will share insights from the Malaysia case study titled ‘Penuak: Keepers of Tradition and Sustainability’. This discussion will highlight how community knowledge keepers and external researchers can collaborate to address the climate crisis through locally rooted, decolonizing, and transformative approaches.
The DECODE project is funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and coordinated by the UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education. It builds on the Knowledge Democracy studies originated by Co-Chairs - Dr. Rajesh Tandon (PRIA, India) and Prof. Budd Hall (Centre for Global Studies, University of Victoria, Canada).
We welcome you and your network to listen to the stories and share your own stories of decolonizing and transformative approaches to the creation of actionable knowledge for change.
